Terms of use: Prosody

These terms are between you and 3 Giant Trees LLC, the developer of Prosody, and cover the Prosody apps for Android and iOS and the optional Prosody Plus subscription. By installing or using Prosody you agree to them. If you bought the iOS app or a subscription through the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and these terms add to it.

What Prosody is

Prosody is a player for Audiobookshelf, an open-source audiobook server that you or someone you know runs. Prosody does not host, sell or provide audiobooks. It plays whatever your own server offers to your account. You are responsible for the server you connect to and for having the right to listen to the content on it. Prosody is an independent project and is not affiliated with the Audiobookshelf project.

Your licence

You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use Prosody on devices you own or control, under the rules of the store you got it from. You may not resell it, reverse engineer it beyond what the law allows, or use it to break the law or the rights of others.

Prosody Plus

Prosody Plus is an optional auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly, that unlocks the extras listed in the app (for example Android Auto, CarPlay and Sign in with Plex setup for server owners). Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy.

Payment is charged to your Google Play or Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
You can manage or cancel it in your Google Play subscriptions or your Apple ID subscription settings at any time. Cancelling stops future renewals; the current period stays paid for and active until it ends.
Any free trial that is offered converts to a paid subscription at its end unless cancelled before then.
Refunds are handled by Google or Apple under their own policies.

No warranty and limits on liability

Prosody is provided as is. It is a small independent project and we cannot promise it will be free of bugs, work with every server version, or be available at all times. To the fullest extent the law allows, 3 Giant Trees LLC is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the app, including lost listening progress or downloads. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived.

Privacy

What Prosody stores and sends is described in the privacy policy. In short: your library and listening sync only with the server you sign in to, purchases are handled by the store, and a server owner who uses the hosted Sign in with Plex setup shares the Plex account and subscription details the policy lists.
