Made for foldables

Room to spread out

On a foldable or a tablet, Prosody moves to a navigation rail, fills the extra width with more of your library, and puts the chapter list beside the player instead of behind it. On iPad, the same idea comes with a sidebar library and a wide player.

Pick up where you left off

Resume exactly where you stopped, on any device, with a smart rewind after a pause.

Chapters, skips and sleep

Chapter navigation, skip lengths from 10 to 90 seconds, and a sleep timer with shake to extend and an end of chapter mode.

Tune the sound

Playback speed on both, plus volume boost and skip silence on Android.

Bookmarks with notes

Mark a moment and write down why. Bookmarks sync to your server.

Reset a book to unplayed

Mark a book as not started, which also clears its position on your server so you can begin it again from the top.

Sign in with Plex

If your server owner turns it on, sign in with your Plex account instead of a username and password. Free for listeners, and local sign-in still works alongside it.

CarPlay and Android Auto Prosody Plus

Browse and play your library on the car's screen: continue listening, recently added, series, authors and downloads, with bookmark and speed buttons in Now Playing. Listening in CarPlay and Android Auto is part of Prosody Plus, a monthly or yearly subscription you can cancel any time. Without it, Prosody stays paused while CarPlay or Android Auto is connected.

Play by voice

"Hey Siri, play Dracula in Prosody" on iPhone and in CarPlay, or "Hey Google, play Dracula on Prosody" in Android Auto. Ask for "my audiobook" to pick up where you left off. Voice play in CarPlay and Android Auto is part of Prosody Plus; anywhere else, no subscription is needed.

How it works

Three steps to your library

Run Audiobookshelf

Your books live on your own Audiobookshelf server, version 2.26 or newer. Prosody does not host your books.
Install Prosody

Get Prosody for iPhone and iPad (iOS 17 or newer) from the App Store. The Android app (Android 8.0 or newer) is in testing ahead of its Google Play release.
Enter your server address and sign in

Point Prosody at your server and sign in with your username and password, or with your Plex account if your server owner offers it. Self-signed certificates and private certificate authorities are supported, with a review and pin flow.

For server owners: setting up Sign in with Plex is part of Prosody Plus, a monthly or yearly subscription. The hosted setup means you run no extra software, and signing in with Plex stays free for your listeners.

Privacy

Your listening stays yours

Prosody has no analytics and no advertising. Your library and listening sync only with the server you point it at.

Your library, progress and bookmarks sync only with the Audiobookshelf server you enter.
Server owners who use the optional hosted Sign in with Plex setup share their Plex account id, username and email and their Prosody Plus subscription details with that service, as the policy explains.
No accounts with the developer, no analytics SDKs, no crash reporters, no advertising identifiers.
Your server address, sign-in token, library listing, progress, bookmarks and downloads stay in the app's own storage.
Signing out asks first, then deletes that account's sign-in token, library copy, progress, bookmarks and downloads.
Self-signed certificates and private certificate authorities are supported, with a review and pin flow.
Your account and listening history live on your server, which you administer.
